Little Sage is growing!
By Melissa Roxas
I’m super excited to share the news with you that I’m expecting a baby this coming December! Our family is very happy to welcome another addition to our family. My four-year old son is especially excited to be a big brother.
This has brought about many changes in my life (some of which I will share in future blogs and newsletters), including changes for the clinic.
As the owner of Little Sage, I’m committed to continue providing you with the highest quality of care. During my maternity leave, I’ve chosen two great acupuncturists to work at the clinic. Jin Choe and Emily Kiba will be available to treat patients at the clinic during my absence. One of the benefits of having them join the Little Sage team (besides the fact that they are both awesome as you will see in their bios below) is they’ll be able to offer evening and weekend hours. I know a lot of you have been asking for this, so we’re excited to offer it.
To get to know Jin and Emily, make sure to read through the end of the post. I have included their pictures and their bios. They both specialize in women’s health and pediatrics, and offer unique specialties as well.
I will be on maternity leave beginning the week of November 12, 2018 until March 12, 2019.
Beginning the week of November 12, 2018, the following will be the available days and times for appointments:
Tuesdays 10 am – 6 pm
Thursdays 1 pm – 7 pm
Saturdays 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
Little Sage clinic will be closed for the holidays on the following days:
November 22, 24, 2018
December 22, 24, 25, 2018
January 1, 2019
With the holidays around the corner and the flu and cold season underway, we want to make sure that you and your family are taken cared of. Boost your immunity by coming in for a treatment. We also want to schedule your appointments ahead of time to make sure we can get you in before the holidays. Please contact us now to book an appointment.
Sending you the very best wishes, love, light and good health,
About Emily Kiba, L.Ac, Dipl.O.M., Licensed acupuncturist and herbalist
Emily Kiba is a licensed acupuncturist (LAc) by the California Acupuncture Board and a certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl OM) by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Emily graduated from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, the No. 1 school in California.
Emily has unique background of first working at a large corporation in Osaka, Japan, where she did sales and marketing and travelled several countries in Asia, Europe and the United States.
Emily was always interested in the health and holistic care and after leaving the company, she has studied Holistic Nutrition at American College of Holistic Nutrition.
Emily worked at Dentoshoku Kenkyu Sho, in Osaka, Japan and was inspired and fascinated by the Loquat Moxibustion, one of the modalities of Eastern medicine. Emily saw how many people with very difficult diseases recovered significantly using moxibustion. She wanted to introduce this wonderful method to the United States. While holding onto this dream, Emily also experienced working as a chef in one of the hospitals in Osaka, Japan. Emily saw how the food served to the patients at the hospital was poor quality and wanted to study more about nutrition. Emily started studying Macrobiotic diets and later started working as an assistant for the teacher. She also taught basic cooking classes.
Emily is very happy and excited every day to be able to treat patients, especially with Loquat Moxibustion. Emily treats pain, internal diseases, emotional disorders, fertility and gynecological disorders, weight loss and more.
Emily loves to learn new things to improve her practice and now is excited to advance her skills in dermatology and autoimmune disorders.
About Jin Choe, L.Ac., Licensed acupuncturist and herbalist
Jin’s exposure to eastern medicine began as a young girl in her grandmother’s kitchen, where she first encountered the calming aroma of medicinal herbs lingering throughout the house. What began as a childhood curiosity has evolved into a deep appreciation for the rich connections between nature and our bodies. This connection is the foundation of her holistic approach toward wellness, which begins with recognizing the unique needs of each patient in balancing body, mind, and spirit.
Jin is dedicated in assisting you with every stage of improving wellness. In addition to acupuncture, Jin also offers herbal remedies, nutritional guidance and lifestyle change recommendation for the whole family.
On her days off, Jin loves to spend time with her husband and two kids exploring Los Angeles, crafting, cooking and looking for unique vintage finds.
Jin is interested in women’s health, management of chronic illnesses, pediatrics, natural facial rejuvenation, emotional issues and pain management.
